Aviation College to establish first quota for women to address pilot shortage

In an effort to address the pilot shortage, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has decided to create a quota for women for the first time at the Civil Aviation College, which trains pilot candidates, from the 2027 admissions intake. The Civil Aviation College is the only public training institution in Japan, and trains approximately 40% of the country's pilot candidates.
